World English Sporting at Northbrook 2019
2019 saw my first trip to the USA to shoot a competition, we spent a week at Northbrook near Chicago to shoot the World’s and several supporting events. It was definitely an eye opener for me and very different to competing in the UK.
The ground compared to UK shooting grounds was huge and had no problem hosting the prelim, a FITASC, 2 other supporting events, the 2 courses for the main event and still have a practise area you could use.
The targets for the event were very good and different to what we are used to in the UK, they were technical, beating you with lines and angles which didn’t need the same lead that we give targets in the UK. I finished with 149 / 200 which for my first attempt in the USA I was happy with.
They even had a bar in the evenings. I am looking forward to having another go when the WESP is back in the US in 2021, I just hope my baggage arrives on time for that trip.
