I have been shooting for as long at I can remember. I was probably in my early teens when I started shooting and going to small clay pigeon shoots (straw bailers). At the time I progressed to a reasonable level with various class wins etc. but this was just a hobby along with the different things that teenagers do.

When I left school and went to University I stopped shooting apart from possibly 1 or 2 outings a year. I moved back to my home area around 9 years later and started shooting again in my early thirties. Again I was shooting the small farm clay pigeon shoots on a Sunday and I found it took me a long time to get to the same level I was as a teenager.
In 2014 I eventually started to win the odd straw bailer and with delusions of grandeur I thought I would try and shoot for the County. I started shooting the odd CPSA registered shoot and wow what a surprise, the difference in standards was amazing. I went from being near the top of AA class at my local club shoot to being in the middle of C class on CPSA registered shoots. Instantly the dream of shooting for the County looked a long way away.
This is when I decided that in order to shoot for the County I would have to really focus my efforts on clay shooting and strive to improve…..
I am still on the journey of trying to improve with a combination of shooting a wide range of competitions, practising and lessons to get another perspective and correct my technique.
I shoot Eley Superbs through a Caesar Guerini Summit which deliver good consistent performance which gives confidence that I can break any target.
Practise is important in any sport and English Sporting is no exception, most of my practise is done at my local clay ground, Mickley Hall Shooting School which put on a larger variaty of targets.
Hopefully through this site you will see some of the trials and tribulations I come across trying to shoot for the country.
